Recorded live, by Impulse! at a charity gala given at Carnegie Hall for the benefit of the Integral Yoga Institute in 1971, this incredible set never saw commercial release until now. The gala concert was one of two halves with the first two transcendental tunes by Alice taken from the album she had just released on Impulse! and then two explosive tunes by her late husband John Coltrane. Nonesuch will release Brad Mehldau´s acclaimed 2002 studio album Largo on vinyl for the first time in June.For this album, Mehldau and producer Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, Elliott Smith, Mac Miller) experimented with electronic instrumentation on originals and borrowed tunes (including Radiohead’s ‘Paranoid Android’ and The Beatles’ ‘Dear Prudence’). Even a global pandemic can’t soften Slipknot who will return this fall with a new album, The End, So Far, which they’re heralding with a punishing new elegy, “The Dying Song (Time to Sing).” After a bittersweet chorus about putting your “life into your death,” the song opens with frontman Corey Taylor bellowing, “Die! Die! Memento Mori is Depeche Mode's 15th studio album and the first in the lineup of Dave Gahan and Martin Gore, following the tragic death of co-founder Andrew "Fletch" Fletcher in 2022. Memento Mori was produced by James Ford, with additional production work by Marta Salogni. In 2019 Children of Bodom played their last concert in Helsinki called "A Chapter Called Children of Bodom" before the band disbanded. Alexi Laiho (lead guitar, lead vocals) and Daniel Freyberg (rhythm guitar) continued their collaboration as Bodom After Midnight in 2020. In 1990 and 1991, Eric Clapton performed 42 nights at the Royal Albert Hall in London; 18 shows in 1990 and 24 in 1991. During the run of these shows Clapton performed with three different line-ups: a rock band, a blues band, and an orchestra.Arguably, the shows with the National Philharmonic Orchestra are the most unique of all the performances. Å si at vi gleder oss til oppfølgeren er mildt sagt en underdrivelse.Da Madrugada samlet seg igjen i 2019, for å feire 20-årsjubileumet til det klassiske debutalbumet «Industrial Silence», var det et par ting som umiddelbart ble klart for de tre gjenlevende originalmedlemmene.Det første var at interessen for Madrugada, uten tvil det største rockbandet i Norge i de 10 årene mellom 1999 og 2009, var like stor. Ja, den hadde vokst seg større i løpet av fraværet, ikke minst ute i Europa. Tidligere hadde det alltid vært veldig mye stress.Turneen, oppunder 100 konserter lang, ble et triumftog, med blant annet to utsolgte kvelder i Oslo Spektrum, festivaljobber over hele Norge og en lang serie konserter på kontinentet, der bandet nå solgte ut dobbelt så store haller som tidligere.10 år etter at bandet hadde lagt inn årene i kjølvannet av gitaristen Robert Burås’ bortgang, følte de tre originalmedlemmene – Høyem, Frode Jacobsen (bass) og Jon Lauvland Pettersen (trommer) – at de «var på en tripp de ikke ville skulle slutte».De ville spille flere konserter. Og for å kunne gjøre det, var alle enige om de måtte lage ny musikk: «Trippen» kunne ikke bare være en nostalgitripp. Slik hadde det seg at Madrugada, som gjerne bruker lang tid på å bli enige om det meste, gikk av scenen i desember 2019 – og rett inn i øvingslokalet.Jacobsen: – Vi ga oss selv strenge tidsfrister. Vi booket studiotid i Sunset Sound i Los Angeles i slutten av februar 2020, og hadde halvannen måned på oss til å komme opp med og øve inn materialet. Den lystbetonte stemningen fra konsertene satt fremdeles i oss. Så det gikk over forventning.Høyem: – Vi jobbet slik vi pleide. Hver enkelt tar med seg noe inn, og så foredler vi det sammen. Når vi er i gang, setter alle sitt preg på det. Vi hadde «Industrial Silence» i blodet etter turneen, og jeg følte at det gikk en direktelinje tilbake til de formative årene våre. Vi låt som Madrugada.Arbeidet foregikk i bandets eget studio, Malabar, i Oslo, i Velvet Recording i Spydeberg (der ett av sporene på albumet, «Imagination», ble spilt inn) og i Berlin. 70% av materialet på det ferdige albumet er helt ferskt. Men bandet reddet også et par eldre låter fra skrivebordsskuffen: «The World Could Be Falling Down» har sine røtter i tiden rundt det første Madrugada-albumet. «Slowly Turns The Wheel» stammer fra perioden mellom det tredje og det fjerde.Lauvland Pettersen: – Prosessen var veldig annerledes enn forrige gang jeg spilte inn album med Madrugada [«The Nightly Disease», 2001]. That first salvo was followed by ‘Laughing On Judgement Day’ which hit No. 2 in 1992, and then ‘Behind Closed Doors’ which was another Top 5 hit in 1995. ‘Greatest Hits’ includes material taken from releases right up till 2017’s ‘Rip It Up’, which hit No.3 in the Charts, and 2019’s ‘Please Remain Seated’. De ti sangene som utgjørEndless Love, Sivert Høyems etterlengtede femte soloalbum, kan absolutt beskrives som å "strekke seg". Tekstene utforsker voksen tematikk, mens musikken i større grad enn før kretser rundt Høyems unike kvaliteter som sanger. Og stemmen, den klinger i differensierte musikalske landskaper - fra det knugende, skurrende og semi-elektroniske til dynamiske, akustiske ballader. Ta gjerne førstesingle "Inner Vision" som eksempel, en episk ballade i chanson-tradisjonen, med lyrisk piano, brusende orgel, autoritær bass … og en av Høyems fineste vokalprestasjoner noensinne fanget på plate.Endless Love ble spilt inn i Stockholm og Oslo med Ulf Ivarsson som produsent. Ivarsson spiller også all bass på albumet, mens Høyem har gjort mye av gitararbeidet selv. Som backingband opptrer Pelle Ossler (gitar) og Anders Hernestam (trommer) fra Joachim Thåströms band, med ytterligere bidrag fra Per Viberg (eks-Opeth) på keyboard og Stian Westerhus på gitar.
